Sentara Leigh Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Patient Access Representative for the Night shift in the Emergency Department. You will handle patient registration, verify demographics, collect payments, and guide patients to services.

The role supports scheduling and peri-admission tasks while delivering excellent patient service. The position offers a $1,500 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates and a comprehensive benefits package.

• 2 years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry.
• Proficiency in Keyboarding.

• Review schedules and orders to register the patient for the appropriate service.
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and outstanding balances; complete transactions securely.
• Greet patients and families; answer questions and guide to service areas.
• May perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties as needed.

As aPatient Access Representativewith Sentara, you will be responsible for all aspects of the patient registration process, including: verifying the patient identity and selecting the correct patient record, reviewing schedules and physician orders to register the patient for the appropriate service, scanning important documents such as insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POAs and verifying and entering the patient's demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record. During the registration process, the Patient Access Rep will explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents and adhere to all applicable privacy and compliance standards. They also explain and collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances and perform the transactions securely. In most areas, the Patient Access Rep is the first point of contact for patients and provides the first impression of Sentara. They greet patients and families, answer questions, and ensure the patients arrive to the appropriate service area at the right time. The Patient Access Rep may also perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties and provide supervision and patient information updates to families in waiting rooms.
