Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to deliver exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for patients in clinics or by phone.

You will greet patients, verify demographics, collect payments, and coordinate scheduling and referrals while adhering to policies. This role supports a welcoming, efficient patient experience and may involve telemedicine coordination.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or equivalent training in a healthcare or business related field is preferred.
• Previous customer service experience in an office setting, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of registration procedures, extensive computer skills, basic knowledge of system applications, billing systems, and third party payers is preferred.
• Medical terminology desired.

• Obtain and coordinate referrals and conduct pre-authorization.
• Arrange interpreter services.
• Check patients in/out and operate multi-line phone.
• May resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, and serve as switchboard operator.

SCHEDULING

• Work with nursing team & providers to coordinate & schedule appointments to meet patient’s needs, coordinate provider schedule
• Obtain and coordinate referrals & conduct pre-authorization
• Arrange interpreter services
• Check patients in/out
• Operate multi-line phone
• May resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, & serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

• Preparation & coordination of charts
• Organize supporting provider documents
• Initiation & collaboration of patient financial assistance
• Track patient visits & health information management on patient accounts
• Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
• Coordination of Telemed appointments
• Reminder calls for appointments
• Hospital admission
• Office duties, such as make copies or send faxes

Qualifications
