Job summary

Summit Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative in Lakewood, Colorado. You will handle pre-admitting and registration tasks, verify insurance, collect payments, and support patients and families to create a positive first impression.

You will collaborate with administration, physicians, and staff, serving as a resource for new associates and contributing to a smooth patient experience at St Anthony Summit Medical Center.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred healthcare office experience and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive first impression for patients, families, and staff by handling pre-admitting, admitting, registration, routing or escorting.
• Interview patients to collect demographic and financial data and enter it into the electronic record system.
• Verify insurance benefits, explain costs, and collect outstanding patient responsibility at or before service.
• Mentor new associates and assist in new employee orientation.

You’ll be seen as a valued resource as you collaborate with administration, management, physicians, and other staff members to support our patients, visitors and other customers. In this Patient Access Representative role you will:

• Create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor or staff while performing the tasks of pre-admitting, admitting and/or registering, routing or escorting patients, family or visitors.
• Interview patients or relatives to obtain demographic and financial information required to complete the registration/admission and record the information in the electronic record system.
• Verify insurance benefits; explain financial requirements to the patient or patient representative, and collect the outstanding patient portion prior to or at the point of service.
• Serve as a mentor to new associates and assist in new employee orientation.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.

Preferred

• Office experience in a healthcare environment, medical terminology, ability to multitask and prioritizingskills.
