Responsibilities

• Register patients by verifying identity and selecting the correct record.

• Scan insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, and POAs; verify and enter demographics and insurance data.
• Explain and complete regulatory and privacy documents; ensure privacy compliance.
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and outstanding balances; perform transactions securely.
• Greet patients and families, answer questions, and direct to service areas.
• May perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties; provide updates to families.

City/State Charlottesville, VA Work Shift Multiple shifts available Overview: Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, located in Charlottesville, VA, is hiring Patient Access Representatives Full Time status Day & Evening shift MJ Hospital MJ Outpatient Care Center (Proffit Road location) The Patient Access Rep is responsible for all aspects of the patient registration process, including: verifying the patient identity and selecting the correct patient record, reviewing schedules and physician orders to register the patient for the appropriate service, scanning important documents such as insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POAs and verifying and entering the patient's demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record. Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents and adhere to all applicable privacy and compliance standards. They will explain and collect co-payments, deposits and outstanding balances, and perform transactions securely. Greet patients and families, answer questions, and ensure the patients arrive to the appropriate service area at the right time. May also perform scheduling, pre-admission and discharge duties and provide supervision and patient information updates to families in waiting rooms.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $20.24 - $30.25 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
