Role Purpose
The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for patients and must exemplify BJC’s standards of customer service, compassion, and professionalism. This role involves facilitating patient entry into BJC facilities, requiring emotional intelligence, professionalism, and the ability to connect personally with patients. Accuracy in collecting demographics, insurance information, benefit verification, and point-of-service collections is critical to maximize reimbursements and prevent denials. Proper selection from the Master Patient Index (MPI) is essential for patient safety. The ideal candidate will have a friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and regulatory standards.
