Part-time ED Registration, 42.5 hours biweekly, various days Monday through Friday 3:30 PM - 11:00 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays on an alternate basis, and 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM shifts.

Job Summary

Provides a positive patient experience by demonstrating strong communication and customer service skills while registering patients, accurately searching and selecting the correct patient, gathering complete demographic and insurance information, and verifying insurance coverage and authorizations.

Essential Functions

• Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, aligning with Jefferson’s values.
• Gather accurate demographic information and assign medical record numbers as needed.
• Request and scan photo IDs and insurance cards.
• Record demographic and insurance data, confirm medical necessity, and complete relevant questionnaires for Medicare patients.
• Verify insurance coverage using RTE, Phreesia, or payer websites, ensuring proper referrals and authorizations are on file.
• Adhere to departmental and institutional protocols, meet regulatory and compliance standards, and achieve performance metrics.
• Communicate and collect out-of-pocket payments at the time of service.
• Rotate among all points of service within Patient Access, including Outpatient Registration and Emergency Department.

Competencies

Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office, familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., EPIC, Cerner), knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans, strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail.

Education & Experience

Minimum High School Diploma or GED; an Associate’s degree in healthcare or business administration is preferred. At least 3 years of customer service experience in healthcare settings, with prior registration experience in Emergency Department preferred.
