Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal government funding programs such as Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS, TRICARE/CHAMPUS; and commercial payers.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; read and apply policies.
• Familiar with using computer systems and EHR for patient data entry.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and schedules appointments for exams or follow-ups.
• Completes patient registration and insurance verifications.
• Enters patient demographic information into the EHR system; handles eligibility checks.
• Collects co-pays and responsible amounts at admission.
• Explains payment options and hospital policies to patients and families.
• Screens for eligibility for state-funded programs and secondary funding.
• Initiates referrals for Medi-Cal, CMS, CCS, KMCHP; applies Financial Assistance policies.
• Collaborates with revenue cycle to resolve issues and maintain records.
