Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (preferred)
• Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or related field (preferred)
• 1 year of Customer Service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
• 2 years Healthcare Revenue Cycle (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Performs admissions activities for pre-admit and face-to-face registration of patients presenting to Main Admissions and/or outpatient areas for treatment.
• Obtains financial clearance and determines patient’s correct financial classification; performs insurance verification for Medicare, Medi-Cal/Medicare, HMO, PPO or commercial products.
• Performs proper system search to secure a medical record number (MRN) or assign a new one without duplication; follows patient identification policy.
• Performs proper selection of physician; recognizes privileging issues and basic suspensions.
• Explains patient financial obligation (deductibles) and collects funds to meet departmental goals.
• Explains admit and consent forms and obtains signatures.
• Assembles admitting and financial paperwork for inclusion on the patient chart per requirements.
• Demonstrates competency navigating and entering patient/financial data in the ADT system and related systems.
• Scans all relevant documents into the scanning system for retrieval.
• Works and resolves error worklist daily and without exception.
• Performs other duties as assigned
