Job summary

CareWell Health is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist at the Woman Health Center, Family Health Center and Bariatrics. You will register patients in the EMR, collect demographics and insurance details, and ensure accurate data entry to support timely care.

You will verify insurance, collect co-pays, and coordinate with the Financial Counselor for self-pay cases. The role requires professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to type and effectively use a personal computer.
• High School Diploma required; typing and data entry speed is important.
• Minimum of one year in a healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register a patient in the EMR system of the center.
• Contact patients courteously and document messages accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality and data security per policies.
• Answer phones and document messages, routing to appropriate recipients.
• Schedule appointments for tests and surgeries as needed.
• Record demographic and insurance information and verify accuracy.
• Verify insurance cards and input insurance address for billing.
• Use insurance verification system and contact insurers for verification.
• Assess insurance coverage to determine need for financial screening and refer self-pay patients to Financial Counselor.
• Compare and update demographic/insurance information with patient data.
• Collect deductibles or co-pays and forward payments to the cashier.
• Assist with referrals and authorizations for surgeries and radiology.
• Complete required documentation to comply with regulations.
• Work on reports and tasks in a timely manner.
• Cross-train to provide coverage when needed.
• Participate in training and quality improvement activities.
