Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Pre-Registration Representative in Los Angeles to pre-register and pre-admit patients by phone or in person, review benefits, and ensure accurate demographics. You will implement Medicare requirements and interact with hospital departments to secure timely reimbursement.

The role requires knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS, and payor verification, with strong communication and 10-key typing skills. Indefinite duration, on-site duties in varied shifts.

Qualifications

• ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes knowledge for authorization submission and reimbursement
• Authorization submission and reimbursement for high cost specialty services and medication administration
• Medical terminology to identify procedures for optimum benefit information and reimbursement
• Knowledge of third party payor verification terminology
• Knowledge of State and Federal programs to ensure reimbursement from Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS programs and other agencies
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance and medication prior authorization and coding basics
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Typing proficiently including 10-key, with accuracy and speed

Responsibilities

• Pre-registers and pre-admits patients by telephone and/or in person
• Review and interpretation of insurance benefits and cash collections
• Implement Medicare requirements
• Collect demographic information and coordinate with physicians and hospital staff
• Interact with Insurance Verification, Financial Counseling, Utilization Review and Patient Business Services to ensure timely reimbursement
