Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of secretarial experience in health care or medical office preferred.
  • Day shift; 40 hours weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and complete registration, verify insurance, collect copays and balances, and set up payment plans; ensure accurate data in EMR and billing systems.
  • Verify insurance and obtain pre-authorizations when needed; liaise with physician offices and third parties.
  • Update patient charts and obtain signatures; notify clinical staff of arrivals.
  • Answer a multi-line phone system, screen calls, and direct to the appropriate staff.
  • Provide general clerical support: faxing, forms completion, releases, and related tasks.
  • Process and attach dictations to claims in the EMR; manage diagnosis and authorization data.
  • Keep patient charts organized; scan and file documents in EMR.
  • Attend staff meetings and pursue in-house education as needed.
  • Maintain organized office operations and support staff as assigned.
