Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years Medical Staff Office Preferred

  • Typing 35 wpm; operate computer, copier and related equipment; strong communication skills; knowledge of medical terminology a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first contact for patients. Greets patients and assesses accommodation needs; coordinates with staff to ensure continuity of patient care during registration.
  • Gathers and distributes patient information for efficient flow of patients through registration process.
  • Adds scheduled patients to scheduling systems and creates/updates registrations to enable tracking of patients.
  • Receives and screens calls and visitors to facilitate department communication and portray a positive image.
  • Monitors waiting areas for cleanliness and maintenance to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Provides backup support for discharge or transfer requests as staffing requires.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as the first contact for patients presenting for medical services. Greets patients, visually and verbally assesses patient for any accommodations they may require, and works with other Patient Access staff and/or medical staff to ensure a continuity of patient care during the registration process. 25 %
  • Implements and maintain an accurate system for gathering and distributing patient information that is necessary for the efficient and timely flow of patients through the registration process. 20 %
  • As applicable, adds scheduled patients to At a Glance and/or gathers necessary information from unscheduled patients to create a scheduled visit and then at patient to At a Glance. As applicable, gathers patient information and performs a Quick Registration in Paragon to enable patient to be added to the tracking board. 20 %
  • Receives, screens, and refers all incoming phone calls and visitors to ensure that accurate and timely department communication is facilitated and that the department(s) is represented in a positive manner. 15 %
  • Continually assesses patient registration waiting areas for cleanliness and maintenance. Takes proper measures or contacts appropriate personnel to clean or maintain patient waiting areas as necessary to help ensure a positive patient experience. 10 %
  • Maintain skill set and competencies to serve as a backup Patient Access Specialist as staffing needs require. As applicable, assist Patient Access staff and/or medical staff with requests necessary for discharging patients or transferring patients out of the department. 10 %"
