Job summary

HCA Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a Patient Logistic Specialist to support patient movement and bed placement across our facilities in Florida. You will respond to urgent inquiries, gather essential case details, and coordinate transfers and discharges with clinicians and transport teams.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organization, and knowledge of medical terminology to ensure smooth patient flow and timely disposition decisions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Prefer experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Hospital Unit Secretary) - highly preferred in ED.
• Prefer understanding of how patient populations move through a hospital setting and healthcare organizations.
• Prefer experience in Behavioral Health (e.g., Behavioral Health Tech).
• Possess good communication skills, verbal and written.
• Possess good organizational skills and able to act on multiple tasks.
• Proficient and understands medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Respond to phone calls with urgency and customer service.
• Gather initial information to open new cases and prepare clinical information for clinicians.
• Establish and maintain awareness of facility medical staff, services and programs.
• Locate resources and coordinate information to support patient disposition or admissions.
• Maintain active inventory of bed availability for non-HCA bed placements and admissions.
• Accept, track and facilitate hospital transfers and transports telephonically and via computer applications.
• Provide updates to customers on status of patient cases and bed placement requests.
• Assist to schedule and prioritize discharge transports and support the Patient Logistics Center.
