Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking a Patient Access Representative (On-Site) to manage registration and financial clearance for patient accounts, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance data. This role supports department peers and collaborates with scheduling to optimize patient flow.

Responsibilities include obtaining authorizations, communicating liabilities to patients, and maintaining precise records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required.
• Certification requirements per department description.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains, confirms, and enters demographic, financial, and clinical information for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts.
• Contacts patients’ families or physicians’ offices to obtain missing insurance information.
• Verifies insurance and confirms eligibility of patient coverage benefits, notifying patient and referring physician if eligibility fails.
• Collaborates with scheduling departments to identify add-on patients.
• Obtains necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
• Notifies patients of liabilities prior to date of service and collects funds.
• Maintains accurate records and documentation in the system of record.
• Acts as a lead resource for lower level Patient Access Representatives.
• Recommends new approaches to management for enhancing performance and productivity.
