Job summary

Logan Health is seeking an experienced Patient Access/Registration Specialist to perform patient registration duties and provide administrative support. You will collect demographics, verify insurance, inform patients of estimated liability, and route financial counseling as needed, while upholding Logan Health's standards of compassionate, confidential service.

You will support the organization by maintaining accurate data, working with clinical staff to prioritize acuity-based registrations,

Qualifications

• Related coursework beyond high school or experience in a complex administrative support position required.
• Previous work experience in registration, financial clearance or patient financial services with strong working knowledge of healthcare insurance and benefit programs preferred.
• Minimun of one (1) year experience in a customer service focus position required.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes and completes registrations in the order of the patients' acuity level as determined by clinical staff.
• Interviews patient or family member to gather demographic, insurance and/or visit specific information and verifies data received from previous visits.
• Launches insurance verification software to verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Collects and processes payment for current service and any previous balances.
• Identifies and refers self-pay patients to financial counseling.
• Maintains knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payer requirements and policies.
• Proactively communicates issues involving customer service and process improvement opportunities to leadership.
• Meets productivity, quality requirements and takes ownership of work to ensure excellent service.
• Develops and maintains knowledge and skills to identify insurance plans correctly in systems.
• Provides administrative services to support effective operations.
