Job summary

Four Rivers Community Health Center in Rolla, MO seeks a Medical Assistant or LPN to serve as the Patient Access Coordinator and indirect patient care provider in the clinic setting.

You will manage inbound clinical calls, identify patient needs, and document encounters in real time while assisting with referrals and prescription processes. Bilingual abilities are encouraged to support diverse patients and ensure confidential, efficient service.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with Director of Medical Services and staff.
  • Manage large volumes of inbound clinical calls promptly.
  • Identify patient needs, answer questions, and solve problems.
  • Document all patient phone encounters in real time.
  • Ensure prescription refill requests are processed within 48 hours.
  • Assist patients with referrals to specialists and lab testing.
  • Maintain a neat, organized work area and professional appearance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and communicate tactfully.

Job description

General Summary: A non-exempt position, Medical Assistant or LPN, providing indirect patient care in the office/clinic setting. The Patient Access Coordinator is the first voice of Four Rivers Community Health Center that patients, physicians and community members will encounter when communicating with the organization.

Essential Duties:
  1. Work cooperatively with Director of Medical Services and personnel to accomplish all goals and objectives of Four Rivers Community Health Center.
  2. Manage large amounts of inbound clinical calls in a timely manner.
  3. Identify patient needs, answer questions, and solve problems.
  4. Retrieve recorded messages and distribute to appropriated individuals; place telephone encounters and assign as appropriate.
  5. Document in real-time all patient phone encounters.
  6. Responsible for insuring patients receive their prescription refill requests, via internal & extern al fax, telephone encounters, WELL App, etc, within 48 hours or requesting.
  7. Responsible for assisting patients with referrals to specialists, laboratory testing, etc.
  8. Keep work area neat and organized for proper completion of work tasks.
  9. Participate in Continuing Education as required by supervisor or state or federal guidelines; and,
  10. Perform related work as required, including, but not limited to, assisting, and fulfilling duties as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
  1. Must be able to see, hear, read, write, kneel, stand, sit and lift up to 50 lbs.
  2. Must be able to handle stressful situations.
  3. Possess cognitive skills necessary to understand medical terminology.
  4. Always maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
  5. Must always maintain patient confidentiality.
  6. Must demonstrate tact, patience, and good communication skills in dealing with patients, staff, and the public.

  4. Must demonstrate accuracy, proficiency, and efficiency from an approved training program.
