Job summary

Catholic Health on Long Island is seeking a Billing Clerk responsible for registering patient demographics, verifying insurance, and processing referrals and pre-certifications for outpatient tests and/or inpatient procedures. You will use EPIC to reconcile copayments and support the billing process.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED required.
• Must have physician billing experience.
• Experience working in a medical practice is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patient demographics, including insurance information and email addresses for MyChart.
• Interpret third-party coverage for patients.
• Handle referrals and pre-certification/authorization for outpatient tests and inpatient procedures.
• Communicate with ancillary staff for insurance requirements.
• Reconcile daily copayments using EPIC deposit tool; complete weekly cash deposits.
• Serve as a resource for staff on all billing aspects.
• Handle patient billing inquiries.
• Collect patient copayments.
• Charge entry.
• Support Front Desk with checking patients in/out and answering phones.
