Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Experience in using EMR systems, insurance verification, eligibility, and electronic billing.
• Billing and Coding Certification preferred
• Knowledge of health insurance plans and interpretation of benefits.
• Extensive knowledge of CPT & ICD 10 codes with modifiers for Radiation Oncology, Infusion and Oncology Surgery.
• CMS & NCCN guidelines and compliance knowledge.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Experience in a customer support role.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to set priorities and manage time.
• Flexible, service oriented, and dedicated.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Superior organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic, insurance, and medical information for accurate registrations.
• Perform insurance verification, data collection and documentation.
• Determine medical necessity for services based on medical criteria.
• Identify patient financial responsibilities and collect payments.
• Serve as liaison to internal and external customers to facilitate access to hospital services.
• Secure documentation to register patient visits and ensure coding support.
• Apply CPT and ICD-10 codes and appropriate modifiers.
• Educate physicians and staff on documentation requirements for proper reimbursement.
• Assist in internal audits of patient charges and related reports.
• Submit claims and address rejections daily; re-scrub and correct as needed.
• Identify problems causing rejected claims and advise on procedural changes to prevent repeats.
• Resubmit/refile and print records for appeals as necessary.
• Check coding and post charges; adhere to Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care contracts.
• Review surgical claims and post-op visits for full reimbursement.
• Run daily insurance exception reports and correct rejections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
