Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Patient Access Associate 2 to support admissions, insurance verifications, and financial counseling across Shirlington, Willow Oaks, and Falls Church, VA. This is a 6‑month contract to hire position with three openings. Pay is $21.50 per hour, with Monday–Friday shifts beginning between 7 and 9 a.m.

Flexibility to work at other local locations is required. EPIC experience is a big plus; candidates must pass a background check and drug screen, and have a High School

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the US.
• Must have transportation to travel between locations.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• High School diploma plus 1+ year healthcare or related experience.
• EPIC experience is a huge plus.

Responsibilities

• Admits and schedules patients, verifies insurance, and provides financial counseling.
• Demonstrates effective problem solving and communication for patient safety.
• Active listening when handling customer complaints.
• Communicates scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives.
• Explains insurance benefits and patient liability clearly.
• Identify payroll authorization and referral requirements for patients.
• Report safety hazards and protect patients and guests as needed.
• Strive for high accuracy and improve workflows to reduce errors.

Absolute Must Haves

• Authorized to work in the US | Must Have Transportation
• Immunizations (Titers Test, Hep B, TB Screen, Influenza immunization) – we offer service to get these completed
• Ability to pass background check AND Drug Screen
• High School & 1+ years of Healthcare/Hospitality, Patient Access, OR healthcare revenue cycle experience
• Experience with EPIC (huge plus)

Job Summary

The Patient Access Associate 2 admits and schedules patients, conducts insurance verifications, and provides financial counseling. Duties And Responsibilities

• Expresses sincere concern and empathy when dealing with customer complaints.
• Accesses appropriate systems/services to confirm insurance coverage or other means of payment.
• Communicates scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives in a timely and professional manner.
• Identifies and communicates payroll authorization and referral requirements to patients.
• Explains insurance benefits and patient liability by using appropriate communication methods/styles.
• Reports safety hazards/violations and takes appropriate action to protect the environment and guests until help arrives – if necessary.
• Delivers an acceptable volume of work with high levels of accuracy while improving inefficiencies and minimizing repetitive errors by revising current workflow procedures.
• Recognizes when a problem needs to be elevated for resolution and involves others in the problem solving process when additional input is needed.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
