Job summary

SmithRx in Plano, TX seeks a Patient Access Specialist I for a seasonal contract with potential full-time conversion after 6 months, based on performance. You guide patient members through prescriptions to obtain medications cost-effectively, serving as the link between patients, doctors, and pharmacies.

Requirements include a high school diploma and at least 2 years in healthcare or customer service. Onsite onboarding lasts 4 weeks, with potential to work from home four days weekly thereafter.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; healthcare/customer service experience preferred.
• Strong communication, empathy, and ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Proficiency with Windows PC and MS Office; ability to multitask efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Educate patient members about pharmacy benefits and cost-saving programs.
• Assist members, providers and pharmacies via outbound calls and emails.
• Enroll patients in drug savings programs and coordinate with clinicians and pharmacies.
• Maintain detailed call documentation and follow-up for each case.
• Provide empathetic support by phone, email, and other channels.
