Position Description
This position is for the 12-week Pathway Home Diesel Technician Training Career Skills Program for MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS.
- On active duty military status
- Be in the last 180 days of military service
- Have a mechanical background, either MOS or prior experience
- Pass initial screening for program qualifications
- Upon completion of the training program, the candidate must agree to work at one of 800 Ryder service locations

Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Vocational or Technical Certification, Post-secondary vocational education preferred
- One (1) year or more of classroom training or work experience in mechanical repairs on heavy and medium duty equipment, with minimum tools as outlined in Maintenance policy 2.02
- One (1) year or more of performing advanced mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy and medium duty equipment; proficiency in diagnostics, overhaul, and repair of vehicle components and systems preferred
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to complete and apply required technical training
- Pass Ryder Regulated Status Requirements
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Dependable, able to work shifts and weekends, perform entry-level tasks
- Knowledge of computers (intermediate level)
- Non Commercial Driver License CLASS E; Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
- State license as required
- Safety Sensitive Position, Non-Regulated Tech
Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Conduct vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
- Identify root causes and perform repairs
- Replace defective components
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to understand issues
- Use Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Follow all safety and compliance guidelines
- Support operations as needed, including Service Island support
