Job summary

Red Rocks Community College is seeking a Pathway Advisor to help students define life and career goals and craft educational plans. You will guide applicants through admissions, course registration, program planning, degree completion, scholarships, and campus resources, serving as the point of contact for transferability and study paths.

The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm with occasional evenings and weekends; may require travel between RRCC Lakewood Campus locations.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in counseling, human services or related field.
  • One year of full-time academic advising or related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong verbal and written communication; well-organized.

Job Summary:

The Academic Advisor assists students in the clarification of their life/career goals and in the development of educational plans for the realization of these goals. It is a professional position at the College who guides prospective and current students through the admission process, course registration and selection, program planning, degree completion, scholarships and college resources. In addition, the Academic Advisor serves as the Colleges point of contact for students on courses, programs of study, transferability, educational and career plans.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evening and weekend commitments required. May require work at both campuses and travel between campuses.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Communication: Verbal and written communication skills including the ability to give and receive information accurately and present information to groups and in public settings.
  • Organization: Ability to create and keep deadlines, manage appointments, pay attention to details, keep work organized, manage competing priorities and plan, prioritize and achieve goals.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in counseling, human services (or related field).
  • One year of full-time academic advising or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations. which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
  • Experience working in a community college or university setting.
  • Experience working with Banner, Navigate or similar higher education software packages.
Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary

Starting salary range for this position is $54,113 to $59,524 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
