Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a General Pathology Laboratory professional to register and accession specimens, provide gross descriptions for biopsies, and ensure proper handling and disposal of tissues. The ideal candidate possesses an Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or expects completion within a year, with basic LIS and computer skills to support efficient lab operations.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or obtain within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of grossing anatomical terminology preferred.
• General computer skills with understanding of LIS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register and accession specimens into LIS accurately to ensure proper testing and charging.
• Examine and prepare biopsy and routine specimens for microscopic evaluation with gross description.
• Handle, store and dispose of surgical and autopsy tissue per safety and regulatory standards.
• Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining stock.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
