Job Details

Note: This night shift is 36 hours over 3 days - Sat/Sun/Mon, 7pm to 7:30am.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities
  • Provides support services for clinical or anatomical laboratories, resolving issues with orders and specimens, and responding to telephone inquiries about test results and specimen collection criteria.
  • Prepares coolers for blood delivery, manages blood product inventory, scans digital slides, files slides and tissue blocks, and performs routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Receives and delivers specimens and reports.
  • Compiles case data, including correct specimen designation, to ensure appropriate testing by pathologists or technologists.
  • Performs CLIA Waived Lab Testing where applicable.
  • Registers and accessions all patient materials as required.
  • Supports laboratory functions such as maintaining ordering and inventory systems, assisting with employee timekeeping, paying invoices, data entry, and glassware maintenance.
  • Receives specimens and performs pre-analytical procedures, including accessioning, verifying specimen acceptability, aliquoting, plating, preparing smears, and shipping specimens following safety protocols.
  • Provides courier services for internal and external deliveries where applicable.
Requirements

Licensure/Certification: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, if required to drive between sites.

Experience: Previous clinical laboratory experience or college-level coursework; preferred minimum of 2 years handling specimens and basic laboratory procedures.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; preferred one year of post-high school education in a Health Science field.

Additional Requirements
  • Complete continuing education.
  • Customer service skills and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Rotating weekends, holiday scheduling, and overtime as needed.
Physical and Mental Requirements

Includes lifting less than 20 lbs, prolonged standing/sitting, reaching, repetitive motions, exposure to biohazards and chemicals, and strong cognitive skills for problem-solving and communication.
