Job description

SLUCare Physician Group, a member of SSM Health, is seeking a pathologist to provide laboratory leadership and general coverage for two hospitals in central southern Illinois (Mt. Vernon and Centralia). Responsibilities include surgical pathology, cytopathology, and clinical pathology. The successful candidate will collaborate with laboratory leadership and clinicians on both hospital campuses, as well as work closely with the pathology faculty and departmental administrative leadership at Saint Louis University.

Job Duties:

1. Provide Clinical and Anatomical Pathology coverage as needed, utilizing laboratory techniques to diagnose diseases from patient specimens.
2. Fulfill obligations set forth in the Medical Staff bylaws of the healthcare facilities where the Employee maintains Medical Staff membership.
3. Report any damage or insufficiency of furnishings, medical appliances, equipment, facilities, and scientific instruments upon discovery.
4. Prepare and maintain medical records and documentation related to professional services rendered.
5. Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of anatomic and clinical pathology.
• Familiarity with medical procedures and terminology.
• Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in medicine.
• Board certification or eligibility in AP/CP, APCP.
• Ability to obtain medical licensure in Illinois (required) and Missouri (preferred).
