Job description

We are seeking a Locum Tenens Physician - Pathology in Iowa.

Locum Tenens Physician - Pathology

Position Type: Locum Tenens

Rate: Open & Negotiable
Shift: One week/month, M-F 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with call on weekends/nights

Position Details:

• Patient Population: Hospital-based practice
• Setting: Hospital-based
• Responsibilities: Clinical lab duties including blood bank (resolving difficult antibodies), hematology (reviewing abnormal peripheral blood smears), attending fine needle aspirations and providing adequacy statements, and performing various pathology procedures.
• Required Procedures:
  • Anatomic Pathology Procedures: Surgical Pathology, GI Pathology, GU Pathology, Dermatopathology, Cytology, Autopsy
  • Clinical Pathology Procedures: Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry/Serology, Blood Bank
• EMR System: CoPath
• Support Staff: 1.5 physicians, 4 histotechnologists, 1 pathology assistant, 2 cytotechnologists
• On-Call/Weekends: Yes

Requirements:

• Licensing: Active Iowa License (or willingness to obtain)
• Certification: Board Certified, APCP boards required
• Other: Estimated credentialing timeframe is 90 days
