Job summary

AAPC in Austin, TX is seeking a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist to support daily coding operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with billing regulations while driving quality improvements. You will review pathology reports, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and collaborate with billing teams to resolve discrepancies.

The role requires at least 3 years of medical billing experience, familiarity with EHR systems, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of medical billing experience; surgical pathology coding preferred.
• Familiarity with EHR systems and medical billing platforms.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong computer skills.
• High School Diploma or GED; CPC/CCS or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Type of Position: Full-time

Work Hours: Mon-Fri 8 am - 5pm

General Description: In this role, you will support daily coding operations, ensures accuracy and compliance with all billing regulations, and drives continuous improvement in coding quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Review Reports :Examine pathology reports to identify relevant information.
• Assign Codes :Use coding systems like ICD-10-CM and CPT to assign accurate codes to diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure Accuracy :Verify that all codes are accurate and comply with current regulations and guidelines.
• Collaborate :Work with billing departments and healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies or questions.
• Stay Updated :Keep up-to-date with changes in coding standards and healthcare regulations.
