Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a part-time Pathology Referral Assistant in Surgical Pathology Services to maintain organized archives, retrieve and track tissue slides and paraffin blocks, and prepare materials for return to outside facilities.

You will use the LIS to document movement of materials, coordinate institutional and USPS mail, and support daily department operations, contributing to efficient, accurate pathology workflows in a world-leading cancer center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Organize patient slides and paraffin blocks in order for archive and retrieval.
• Process return/retrieval requests and document movements in LIS.
• Prepare slides/blocks for mailing to outside facilities.
• Create mailing labels, verify cases, track materials, and package securely.
• Pick up and deliver mail, including USPS, within the department.
• Deliver packages twice daily to mailroom or carrier drop boxes and sort mail.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
