Job Summary

Summary -Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of patient specimens, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone. Does this position require Patient Care? No


Essential Functions


  • Accurately enters information from requisition (including patient name, unit number, requesting area, time sample drawn, physician’s name, tubes received, tests requested, general comments) into computer.

  • Transfers samples from racks to the centrifuges and to decant station.

  • Processes ADDs: locates sample, adds tests to original accession, completes ADDs form.

  • Acts as resource to CLA I and CLA II staff.

  • Handles special specimens (e.g. Sendouts).


Qualifications


  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

  • Licenses and Credentials: Experience Minimum two years of experience as a CLA I or II 2-3 years required

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital.
