Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a CLA I/II to perform clerical and technical duties in the laboratory. You will be responsible for accessioning, centrifugation, decanting, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone, reporting to a Laboratory Supervisor.

This onsite role is based at 75 Francis Street with a 40-hour work week. Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of CLA I/II experience, plus strong

Responsibilities

  • Enter information from requisition into the computer accurately.
  • Transfer samples from racks to centrifuges and to decant station.
  • Process ADDs: update tests to original accession and complete ADDs form.
  • Act as resource to CLA I and CLA II staff.
  • Handle special specimens (e.g. Sendouts).

  • Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of patient specimens, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone.

Essential Functions
  • Accurately enters information from requisition (including patient name, unit number, requesting area, time sample drawn, physician's name, tubes received, tests requested, general comments) into computer.
  • Transfers samples from racks to the centrifuges and to decant station.
  • Processes ADDs: locates sample, adds tests to original accession, completes ADDs form.
  • Acts as resource to CLA I and CLA II staff.
  • Handles special specimens (e.g. Sendouts).
