Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to perform clerical and technical duties related to patient specimens, under general supervision. The role reports to a Laboratory Supervisor and involves receiving, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of specimens, with communication to clinicians at the Front Window and by phone.

Onsite position located at 75 Francis Street with a 40-hour work week, day shift, regular status and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Experience Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Good interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assists with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens.
• Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately.
• Monitor reagent and supply inventory.
• Organize patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review.
• Use LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment.
