Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Per Diem Laboratory Clerk to perform clerical and technical duties under supervision. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of patient specimens, and communication with clinicians at the Front Window and by phone.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years of laboratory, healthcare, or customer service experience, with strong communication and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

• Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with lab and hospital staff.
• Ability to multitask and work accurately under time constraints and heavy workload.
• Demonstrates dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization, problem solving, customer service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens.
• Work with technologists to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens.
• Monitor reagent and supply inventory.
• Organize patient specimens and worksheets for testing and technologist review.
• Use LIMS to upload documents and input data or comments.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment.
• Rotate chemicals in all stainers and processors.
• Stock lab supplies and track inventory.
• Other lab related duties as needed.
