Job summary

Mass General Brigham’s Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking a Pathology Lab Assistant I for per diem/variable hours with weekend shifts. You will receive, label and distribute clinical specimens, verify patient information, and prepare samples for testing at the 789 Central Avenue site.

The role requires 1–2 years in a lab or healthcare setting, an associate degree (or equivalent), and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Per diem schedule and on-site work, with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting 1-2 years preferred
• Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and terminology
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Receive, label, and distribute clinical laboratory specimens.
• Process specimens by verifying patient information and preparing for testing.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment.
• Follow established procedures for specimen handling, storage, and disposal.
• Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards including PPE and hazardous materials disposal.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely processing of specimens.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by laboratory management.
