Job summary

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking a Pathology Lab Assistant I to join our team on a Per Diem basis with weekend shifts. Responsibilities include receiving, labeling, and distributing specimens, ensuring accurate accessioning in the LIS, and maintaining a clean, compliant lab environment.

Educationally, an Associate's degree in a related field is preferred, or a high school diploma with healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree in related field preferred or High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Experience: 1-2 years in a laboratory or healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge: basic lab equipment and terminology; follow procedures with accuracy.
• Skills: strong communication and teamwork; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, label, and distribute clinical laboratory specimens.
• Process specimens by verifying patient information and accessioning into LIS.
• Prepare specimens for testing and monitor inventory of supplies.
• Adhere to safety, PPE, and disposal procedures; maintain clean lab environment.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure timely, accurate processing of specimens.
