Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Lab Assistant at Monmouth Medical Center to provide essential support to the Anatomic Pathology Department. This role collaborates with pathologists, residents, histotechnologists, and other staff to ensure accurate specimen processing and timely pathology services.

Responsibilities include specimen receipt, labeling, organization, and assisting in routine laboratory activities within MMC policies and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in a hospital, clinical laboratory, or pathology setting preferred.
• Demonstrates familiarity with patient-identification requirements and chain of custody.

Responsibilities

• Verify, accept, and process surgical pathology specimens and cytology samples.
• Sort and distribute properly barcoded specimens with correct identifiers.
• Maintain specimen integrity, chain of custody, and proper documentation.
