Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated pathology support specialist to perform grossing, dissection, and dictation of surgical specimens. You will ensure specimen integrity, labeling accuracy, and readiness for transfer to reference labs, while assisting in autopsy-related tasks as needed.

The role requires an Associate degree in Laboratory Science, knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology, and comfort with laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a Laboratory Science required.
• High complexity testing knowledge (CLIA ’88).
• Strong knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
• Ability to operate and maintain basic lab equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform grossing, dissection and dictation of surgical specimens.
• Verify specimen integrity and proper labeling; prepare for transfer.
• Assist in autopsy functions and morgue operations as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grossing and autopsy areas.
