Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Assistant to perform grossing, dissection and dictation of surgical specimens, within their assigned competency. Requires an Associate Degree in a Laboratory Science and knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.

Responsibilities include ensuring specimen integrity, assisting in autopsy functions, morgue duties, and coordinating with the pathology team.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a Laboratory Science required (high complexity testing CLIA '88).
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
• Ability to lift/move bodies with mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform grossing, dissection and dictating of surgical specimens using hospital tools and LIS systems.
• Assist in autopsy functions including transfer to/from autopsy suite and morgue tasks.
• Maintain specimen labeling, storage areas and ensure patient identification.
