Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group in Southeast Michigan is seeking a dedicated Grossing Technician to join our Pathology team. You will perform accessioning, grossing, and dictation of Surgical and Cytology specimens, ensuring accuracy for diagnoses.

Responsibilities include gross description, dictation, specimen pickup across the hospital, assisting pathologists and staff, and supporting histology procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma; two years of college coursework in science; 12 science hours preferred. Associates of Science or Applied Science preferred.
• Credentials/Licensure: Valid CPR certification.
• Minimum Experience: Experience in Cytology Preparation and/or Histology Processing preferred, with knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Completes gross description and dictation of simple surgical specimens.
• Picks up pathology specimens from various locations throughout the hospital campus.
• Assists pathologists and pathologist assistants in designated procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of pathology and cytology preparations and procedures.
• Displays proper use of required laboratory equipment.
• Assists with basic or designated histology procedures.
