Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group in Michigan seeks a Grossing Technician to join our Pathology team, performing accessioning, grossing and dictation for Surgical & Cytology specimens with high technical accuracy.

The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of cytology and histology, and collaboration with Pathologists and Assistants. Day shift, full-time with rotating start times, supporting Southeast Michigan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with science coursework; 12 science credits preferred.
• Two years of college coursework completed in a science curriculum.
• Associates of Science or Applied Science preferred.

• Completes Gross description and dictation of simple surgical specimens.
• Picks up pathology specimens from various locations throughout the hospital campus.
• Assists Pathologists and Pathologist Assistants in the designated procedures
• Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of Pathology and Cytology preparations and procedures.
• Displays proper use of required laboratory equipment
• Assists with basic or designated Histology procedures.

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a highly focused Grossing Technician to join our Pathology team. In this role, you will perform all necessary procedures pertaining to accessioning, technical preparation, grossing and dictation of all pathology Surgical & Cytology specimens. This individual must function with a high degree of technical expertise regarding handling of specimens to ensure accuracy of diagnoses made from specimens submitted for evaluation.

What You'll Do

• Completes Gross description and dictation of simple surgical specimens.


• Picks up pathology specimens from various locations throughout the hospital campus.


• Assists Pathologists and Pathologist Assistants in the designated procedures


• Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of Pathology and Cytology preparations and procedures.


• Displays proper use of required laboratory equipment


• Assists with basic or designated Histology procedures.

What We're Looking For

• EDUCATION: High school diploma. Two years of college coursework completed (40-60 credit hours) with emphasis in a science curriculum, 12 hours’ science credits preferred. Associates of Science, Applied Science preferred.


• CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: Valid CPR certification.


• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Experience working in Cytology Preparation and/or Histology Processing preferred, with knowledge of medical terminology.
