Job summary

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Basic Science Educator in Pathology to teach foundational subjects across multiple disciplines including Pathology, Histology, Pathophysiology, Physiology and Cell Biology.

The ideal candidate will lead case-based learning sessions, develop assessment materials, and collaborate with clinical and basic science faculty to design clinical cases that emphasize foundational concepts.

Qualifications

  • Terminal doctoral degree in basic science disciplines such as Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, Pathology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or related field is required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant teaching experience in medical education is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience teaching in a medical school curriculum is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop goals, learning objectives, prework assignments, and assessments for Phase 1 topics.
  • Assist in developing cases for the case-based curriculum and run large group sessions.
  • Facilitate case-based learning sessions 3 mornings per week (Year 1) and 2 half-days per week (Year 2).
  • Collaborate with clinical and basic science faculty to develop clinical cases emphasizing foundational concepts.
  • Participate in development and review of formative and summative assessment items.
  • Attend monthly faculty meetings and participate in OSCE/case development and related projects.
