Job summary

Altasciences is seeking a Pathology Technician to perform gross examinations, necropsies, tissue trimming, and processing per SOPs. You will train on core SOPs, handle organ weighing, necropsy tasks, and EDCS data capture.

The role supports QA/QC reviews, facility maintenance, and protocol reviews, with a pathway to Lead Study Technician training. Strong biology background and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Associates accepted; biology background preferred
• 1 year biology or lab-related work if no BS/BA
• Proficiency with MS Office required
• Strong English speaking, reading, writing skills
• Aptitude for pathology and histology techniques
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving

Responsibilities

• Train on core SOPs and workflows

About the Role

To provide high quality and timely processing of pathological specimens through gross examinations, necropsies, tissue trimming and tissue processing as specified in company protocols and SOPs.

What You’ll Do Here

• Train and become fluent on core SOPs




• Necropsy




• Organ weighing




• Bone marrow smear preparation




• Tissue trimming




• Use of an Electronic Data Capture System (EDCS)




• Heat sealing




• Archiving




• Quality check (QC) review




• PA I will train on becoming a Lead Study Technician (LST)




• Reviewing protocols for correctness




• Attendance in protocol reviews, pre-necropsy meetings and departmental meetings




• Complete study set-up




• Maintaining necropsy suites, including other Pathology lab areas




• Maintaining instruments and equipment




• Maintaining facility records (i.e., fridge/freezer storage records, wet room storage records, equipment use logs)




• Assist with chemical management by maintaining stock and working solutions




• Assist with waste management




• Ordering and stocking




• Specialized necropsies and tissue trimming procedures as required by protocols

What You Need to Succeed

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) preferred; Associates degree or additional work experience acceptable




• 6 months to 1 year biological science or laboratory related work if B.S. or B.A. degree requirement not met




• Working knowledge of anatomic biology




• Basic computer skills, MS Office Suite required




• Proficiency in English including speaking, reading, and writing




• Advanced Math skills specifically that apply to scientific data




• Basic bench chemistry




• Aptitude for pathology and histology techniques




• Strong interpersonal skills




• Problem solving skills,




• Strong attention to detail




• Participation in company On-Call policy




• Continual GLP training

The hourly range estimated for this position is $22.00 - $35.00. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
