Job summary

Caris Life Sciences seeks a Pathologist Assistant I to support pathologists in organizing and performing pathology tasks, including tumor microdissection and review of pathology reports. This role may involve microscopic evaluation and CISH testing as required, with a focus on accuracy and adherence to protocols.

You will help triage slides, organize data, and assist with quality control while collaborating across the pathology team to ensure compliant and efficient study processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology with certification.
• MD or BS with required credit hours and clinical training as described in the job ad.
• Completion of ABHES/CAAHEP approved clinical laboratory training or 3 months of lab training in each specialty.
• High degree of care with strict adherence to testing protocols.
• 0–1 years of relevant laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist pathologists in day‑to‑day pathology operations and microdissection tasks.
• Read pathology reports to determine primary site and collect marked areas for analysis.
• Assess tumor content and order appropriate tests when needed.
• Maintain clean workstation and organize slides, data, and tables.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain logs.
• Communicate with supervisors on case questions and track quality control.

Education

Bachelor's degree in chemical/biological/clinical or medical laboratory science

Certified Cytotechnologist (ASCP) / Pathologist Assistant (ASCP or AAPA) / Histotechnologist (ASCP)

ABHES/CAAHEP accredited clinical laboratory training

MD (foreign trained acceptable)
