Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant at the Main Campus in Cleveland. You will support surgical pathology by examining, dissection, and preparing specimens for histologic evaluation, adhering to CLIA, CAP, and institutional standards.

Collaborate with pathologists and staff to ensure accurate diagnoses, maintain quality control, and mentor pathology residents and students. On-site role with day shift and call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree is required; PA ASCP certification eligible.
• Bachelor’s Degree in biology and chemistry with training to meet ASCP qualifications.
• 2 years of experience as a certified Pathologists’ Assistant (PA ASCP) required.
• Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided; foreign education evals if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination, description, and dissection of surgical specimens for examination and documentation.
• Assist with procurement of fresh surgical specimens for ancillary studies.
• Enter and maintain accession information and test results in LIS and records.
• Perform delegated high-complexity laboratory testing following CLIA and CAP standards.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and troubleshoot issues to ensure accuracy.
• Provide training and supervision to pathology residents and students as assigned.
• Participate in continuing education and competency assessments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
