Job summary

University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH, is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant II to support high-volume surgical pathology services in an academic medical center. You will perform gross examination and dissection of specimens from biopsies to complex resections, prepare tissue for microscopic evaluation, and assist with frozen sections.

The role includes mentoring residents and staff, ensuring documentation accuracy, maintaining lab safety, and collaborating with Pathologists to deliver timely

Qualifications

• Master's Degree of Science in Pathologists' Assistant or equivalent.
• Bachelor's Degree in Pathology-related field or approved PA program.
• PA-ASCP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs macroscopic dissection and description of surgical specimens from biopsies to large resections.
• Prepares tissue for microscopic examination and processes tissue for ancillary studies.
• Performs frozen sections for intraoperative consultation and maintains chain of custody.
• Maintains quality standards and documents results accurately.
• Mentors residents and staff, and supports education within the department.
• Collaborates with Pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely reporting.
• Maintains and operates laboratory equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
• Contributes to department projects and quality improvement activities.
