Position Summary

Under general supervision of a Pathologist, the Pathologists Assistant will independently performs or assists in accessioning, dissection, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens; and/or performs or assists with evisceration, dissection, and narrative description for hospital and forensic autopsy cases.

As a Pathologists Assistant, you will:

• Perform or assist in the accessioning, dissection, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens.
  
• Perform frozen sections and other intra-operative consultations, within established protocol and procedural parameters.
  
• Coordinate or assist with the procurement and handling of tissue specimens destined for research purposes.
  
• Participate in the accessioning and labeling of specimens, specimen storage and disposal, and the maintenance of reagents and equipment.
  
• Perform or assist with evisceration, dissection, and narrative description for hospital and forensic autopsy cases.
  
• For surgical pathology and/or autopsy cases, performs photography and maintains digital files, ensuring a high standard of specimen photography.
  
• Support the departments educational efforts through interactions with student interns, medical students, residents and fellows.
  
• Other duties may be assigned, consistent with the position and incumbent's training.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in scientific or medicine-related field.
  
• Successful completion of an accredited Pathologist Assistant program.
  
• 0-2 years of experience
  
  

Preferred:

• ASCP certification (PA)

Other Information

• 40 hours per week
• Monday - Friday (12 pm - 9 pm)
• Shift hours may vary based on operational needs demand
