Job summary

The Pathologists' Assistant will support the Anatomic Pathology Section under the supervision of a pathologist by preparing and examining surgical specimens and supporting pathology operations.

Shifts may include 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, 3:30 PM-12:00 AM, or 11:30 PM-8:00 AM to meet laboratory needs.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree in a health-science field.
• Must hold ASCP Pathologists' Assistant certification.
• Knowledge of gross examination, tissue dissection, and specimen preparation.
• Ability to work under supervision of a pathologist.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, grossly describe, examine, and dissect human tissue surgical specimens.
• Assist with postmortem examinations and tissue preparation for review.
• Prepare frozen sections and stained slides for intraoperative consultations.
• Support pathology training, specimen procurement, and workflow.
