Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and treatment of pediatric communication disorders in outpatient settings.
  • Perform language and speech analyses using samples, tests, and custom tools.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and document progress and discharge summaries.
  • Educate and counsel parents/caregivers on diagnoses, progress, and referrals.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, and educators and participate in program development.

Job description

Position Summary

Boston Children’s Hospital’s Speech Language Pathology Program is seeking a full-time ASHA Certified Speech Language Pathologist for our Peabody and Lexington sites. The candidate has experience in evaluation and treatment of a broad range of pediatric communication disorders and differences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive assessment and treatment of pediatric communication disorders and differences in the outpatient setting with patients from toddlerhood into young adulthood.
  • In-depth assessment individualized to patients via language sample analysis, speech sample analysis, standardized tests, and clinically created tools.
  • Individualized treatment plans and procedures including use of commercially available and clinically created tools.
  • Providing parent/caregiver education and counseling regarding diagnoses, progress, and follow-up services and referrals.
  • Completing thorough and timely documentation related to patient caseload including comprehensive evaluation reports, treatment plans, daily treatment notes, and therapy discharge summaries.
  • Working in collaboration with other speech language pathologists, physicians, and other healthcare and educational professionals.
  • Participating in program development related to clinical assignments. Maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge and education via continuing education pursuits. Fostering collaboration and professional growth of other staff by sharing information gained through continuing education.
  • Participating in program meetings, committees, and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: A Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Experience: 5 years’ progressively responsible and specialized clinical experience, including responsibility for specialized pediatric speech programs within a clinical service.
  • Strong SLP with fewer years of experience or strong clinical fellow candidates will also be considered.
  • Work requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs.
Licensure/Certifications
  • A current Massachusetts state license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA).

Any base pay offer depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
