Job summary

Sutter Health's CPMC-California Pacific Med Center Davies is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to support surgical pathology procedures. The role requires advanced knowledge to perform gross and post-mortem examinations and to ensure quality in laboratory operations.

Education includes a biology degree and completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program. ASCP certification within 6 months is expected, with 2 years of relevant experience. Schedule is evenings, full-time.

Position Overview

Integrates knowledge, theory and practice to properly execute procedures in assigned areas of the laboratory. With advanced training and education, maintains competence in all practices to perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of disease. May be responsible for specimen/material receipt, preparation, and archival/retrieval, as well as validation testing and problem troubleshooting, as defined by department policies and procedures. As a professional member of the laboratory team, works cooperatively with physicians, clients, and staff to facilitate superior patient care and to represent the laboratory positively by acting with courtesy, dignity, respect, and professionalism.

Education

Job Description:

• Bachelor's: Biological science or related field from a regionally accredited college/university
• Other: Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program within the last five years

Certification & Licensure

• ASCP-American Society for Clinical Pathologist within 6 months

Typical Experience

• 2 years of recent relevant experience.

Pay Range is $75.96 to $106.34 / hour
