Job summary

AlphaGov in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial construction and renovations. You will work with the project manager, superintendent, subcontractors, and design team to keep projects organized and moving forward.

Role emphasizes documentation, scheduling, and coordination, with growth toward full project ownership and leadership over project controls and client service.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in commercial construction or project coordination.
• Experience with general contractors on commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of drawings, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and docs.
• Ability to work with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction PM/docket-control software.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Residential-only construction experience is not suitable.

Responsibilities

• Support PM through all phases of commercial projects.
• Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, POs, and docs.
• Assist with subcontractor scope review and scheduling.
• Review drawings to identify conflicts and issues.
• Maintain schedules and flag delays.
• Attend owner/architect/subcontractor meetings and note actions.
• Assist cost tracking, commitments, invoices, and financial docs.
• Conduct job-site visits to verify progress and conditions.
• Support closeout, warranty, and turnover activities.
