Job summary

Abbott, a global healthcare leader, is seeking a Patent Agent, IP Strategy, to advance patent strategy and portfolio decisions. This onsite role can be based in Chicago, St Paul, MN, or Santa Clara, CA, and requires deep experience in patent analytics and data-driven insights.

You will own IP workstreams, develop dashboards, improve data governance, and explore AI-enabled tools to enhance decision quality. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, data science, or related field.
Registration to practice before the USPTO.
10+ years of experience in patent analytics, IP strategy, or related data analytics.
Experience with Power BI or similar dashboards.
Strong analytical skills to derive business insights.
Ability to manage complex cross-functional projects independently.
Strong strategic judgment connecting data, tech context, and business priorities.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

Own IP Strategy workstreams from scoping to execution and communicate progress and risks.
Analyze patent datasets and develop dashboards translating data into insights.
Improve data acquisition, governance, and usability across internal systems.
Evaluate AI-enabled tools to improve patent analysis and dashboarding.
